Buildings insurance

If you hold a lease from Southwark Council of a former council property, the terms of the lease will usually specify that the council insures your home.

The leasehold building insurance policy has been administered by Zurich from the 1st of April 2013. To make a claim please contact the building insurance officer on 020 7525 7660.

A copy of the insurance policy booklet is available for download.

If your premises are rendered uninhabitable due to an insured peril then you should:

During office hours:

Contact the insurance officer on the number given above.

Outside normal office hours:

Contact Zurich on their emergency number 08000 159 329

If you need to report a repair for which the council are responsible, please contact the housing repairs team on 0800 952 4444 or at repairs@southwark.gov.uk.
