Animal welfare

We have adopted an Animal Welfare Charter to reflect the concerns of local people who care about animal welfare. We hope this will act as an example to people to prevent any cruel treatment, abuse or neglect of animals. The Animal Welfare Charter is available here.

Owning a pet can be a very rewarding experience, but it is also a big responsibility. Our animal welfare service can help you to get the most out of your pet ownership.

Don't forget to get your pet microchipped. The law made it a requirement from April 2016 for all dogs to be microchipped. This will help you identify your pet if it is lost or stolen.

As part of the Dogs Trust microchipping campaign, vets across the country are offering the service free of charge. You can find your nearest participating vet by visiting the website http://www.chipmydog.org.uk/  and searching the map.
