Public art

Camberwell pocket spaces

Pocket spaces are a part of the Camberwell revitalisation programme, which will look at how public spaces could be used more effectively to enable Camberwell to function as a coherent town centre. Within these Pocket Spaces it has been identified that the commissioning of small scale public art interventions would support this aspiration.

The aims of the project are:

  • To enable access to high quality art work for our communities.
  • To add a positive contribution to the public realm.
  • To consider within the design the identity of Camberwell.
  • To encourage use of the spaces identified.

Through an open recruitment process Southwark Council have identified two artists to produce designs that meet the aims of the project.  One of the artists will be selected to work with the local population to realise the designs.

We welcome your feedback on the designs, which the panel will consider when making their selection.
