You’ve probably noticed that things have changed a bit. We haven’t finished updating all our pages yet, so some sections are still using this design. Please bear with us...

Previous Consultation

Concept design consultation

In November 2015 consultation took place on the stage 2 concept plans for the new community and civic facility.  The purpose of the consultation was to obtain information about services in the building and incorporate them into the designs. The Project team were looking into more detail at how council heritage services will operate and be displayed in the building. To view the concept designs click here.

Design brief consultation

In May 2015 we consulted on the Stage 1 design brief and we received feedback from a number of local businesses, interest groups and residents who told us they visited the former library on a weekly basis. We were able to get a sense that most of the users attended the library for relaxation, organised activities and independent learning frequently and used most of the former services. There was an overall agreement that Avanti had achieved the vision through their design and Avanti have taken on board the comments made on improving further on that stage 1 design.

Vision consultation

More than 8,000 local residents and businesses within the Elephant and Castle were consulted on whether or not they agreed with the vision for the former Walworth Town Hall and ninety three per cent of those that responded said that they did. Based on the local support shown for the vision the first brief for this project was approved by cabinet in October 2013.
