Cleaner Greener Safer

The Cleaner Greener Safer programme has been helping Southwark residents transform their local areas since 2003. The application period for the 2018-19 Cleaner Greener Safer programme opens on Saturday 9 September and closes on Monday 23 October. Please click here for more information about applying for funding.

Applications will be processed during November and December and decisions will be announced at Community Council meetings in January-March 2018. You can find the dates of Community Council meetings here.

All eligible ideas are considered by your local ward councillors and this year, ideas to improve the public highway will be considered for an additional fund – the Devolved Highways programme.

What is the Devolved Highways programme?

It is capital funding used to improve the public highway infrastructure and enhance transport facilities. In previous years, this has been restricted to like-for-like replacement of footway or carriageway schemes. This year, the criteria have been expanded to encompass minor improvement schemes, such as improved pedestrian crossing points or traffic calming measures, or street greening works, such as the introduction of trees and grass verges. For more information, click here.

To keep things simple, ideas for this programme will be collected via the CGS application process. Residents don’t need to indicate which fund they are applying for. Officers will identify the appropriate programme for each idea.
